Recent Parent-Teacher Meetings

Thank you to all who attended recent P/T meetings. If you havent met your child’s teacher(s) and wish to do so, please contact Sue in the school office to make an appointment.

Based on feedback from all concerned it seems the online booking and meeting on one day were successful and we hope to continue with that system next year. It is also agreed that a small increase in the time slots to about 10-12 minutes each would be beneficial to avoid too much waiting around.

Please remember if you are concerned about anything in the school, please contact the class teacher or Principal to make an appointment to discuss.

Review of healthy eating policy

We are currently reviewing our healthy eating policy. If you would like to add any comments or suggestions please contact the school or send same by email to scoilbhrideoffice@gmail.com

Board of Management will meet on Tuesday next 12th of December. The Board wishes all our school community a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year.

Yours sincerely,

John Gunnell, Principal.

Letter to Parents-Building Works & Parking September 2016

Scoil Bhríde

Rathdowney, Co. Laois

Tel – 0505 46546

Roll No. 20071 L

September 26th 2016

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Re: Building work at Scoil Bhríde and impact on parking

We were delighted to move into our new building in May 2012 and have a modern school building for our community. We were very lucky to get into the building at the time as our building contractor went into liquidation shortly after our project.

Since then there have been a number of items remaining to be completed including signage, a fence between the school and the Garda Station and a number of defects/snags including replacement of the plaster finish to the external wall of the G.P. hall. The Department of Education and Skills has now given sanction for these works to go ahead over the next few weeks. The works will have a small amount of impact on the day to day working of the school and works in the classrooms will mostly take place after 2:30pm or at the mid-term break at the end of October.

Replacement of the plaster to the external wall of the G.P. hall will commence immediately and will result in a decrease in the amount of space at the bus set-down area. Please be aware of this at collection/drop-off times and again we encourage as many parents as possible to use the church car park and walk with their children to and from the school.

As a general reminder can all please be patient and cautious at pick up time, especially at the point where pupils cross the school road. Please try not to obstruct the flow of traffic and do not abandon the car and leave it unattended other than in a proper parking space. With everybody’s patience and co-operation we can continue to ensure that the pupils can safely exit the school. Please note that the bell rings at 2:30 and by 2:40 on most days all traffic has exited the school.

Other reminders;  Book Rental and other fees now due. Please pay at office ASAP.

  • Confirmation Date 22nd January 2017 for Rang 5 & Rang 6.

Yours Sincerely,

John Gunnell (Principal)
